The Perfect Day

Yesterday was a perfect day for me. For weeks now, I have felt like collapsing at the end of every day, wondering if I would go into labor from the exhaustion of running around all day. (By the way, ONE MORE WEEK TO GO!)

But yesterday was the first day of no-school summer vacation. My girls are not bored with being home yet, so they were exceptionally helpful. I mean outrageously, surprisingly helpful. I had three big piles of laundry that I needed to fold. I folded it and the girls put it all away without complaining one single bit. They were actually cheerfully helping!

It was a nice sunny day, so after laundry and lunch, I sent the girls out to the backyard. In one corner of the yard, we have a bunch of tiny trees trying to grow. Daddy has been thinking that this would make a good job for the little girls, so I showed them what to pull, got them a bucket and then headed inside to read a book. Those girls stayed outside for two hours, taking turns playing with Miss 1 and pulling those tiny trees out! It was fabulous. They amazed me! I stayed in the house and read a book. (The book is called These Is My Words- if you want to know more about it, check out our book page.)

After a morning and afternoon of helping, I let the girls off the hook and let them watch tv while I made dinner.

Now for the most perfect part of the day. One of my greatest friends ever who I love, love, love, recommended a game for us called Agricola. http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/31260/agricola

We have been playing this all the time, with Miss 8 and Miss 6. So far it has been a given that daddy will win every single time. He is a board game king.  Unbeatable.  In fact, that is why we started playing with the girls. Because daddy was winning so much that mommy was starting to have some, shall we say, unkind, feelings toward daddy. Including the girls in the game has somehow managed to diffuse mommy’s little rage problem. Anyway, last night was my long awaited moment of triumph. I WON. By two points. The girls were surprised. I was surprised. Daddy was, ha ha ha, surprised.

It was the perfect end to my perfect day.

I love you more! I even jumped up and down with pure giggly (that’s giggle, not jiggle) happiness that you won! Now…if you’d just tell me these awesome things over the phone, instead of me having to read them, we’d be set! 😉

  3. Being the Designated Loser in most of the family game nights, I am SO HAPPY for you Carrie!!

I heard it was actually One point. 38 to 37. (Just to keep the record straight).
