Spring Break at Maren’s is not exactly like Spring Break at Lynn’s. We will not be going to the zoo, or the museum….we are more like…hanging on for dear life.
It’s pretty well known that I run a daycare out of my home, and when school is out, I am very full. My kids, plus siblings of kids in my care adds up to a full house. This is only day 3, but I can tell you, yesterday was dicey.
First of all, it was supposed to rain. I checked the forecast when I got up and it was raining according to the weather guy in the major city near us. It was very gray and windy at my house, so I pictured us having a movie day. That was the last quiet moment I remember. The first movie went over fine, despite the fact that babies don’t watch tv and I spent that time keeping the babies from running in front of the tv and bugging the other kids. Then lunch. One word to describe lunch could be ‘chaotic’. Another word would be ‘nuts’. Several of the little inmates had fallen asleep during the first movie making naptime a no-go. I laid one baby down, the other baby went home and I put on the second movie. Half the little goofballs refused to watch it on the grounds that it was ‘stupid’. This despite having never seen it. Go figure. So we had an alternate activity upstairs. During the movie, more children were losing interest, and 2 girls came up the stairs and had a tickle/scream fest right in front of the sleeping baby. She woke up. She was miserable for the next 3 hours. I sent everyone outside, where the promised rain had never materialized. By 6pm, everyone was gone and I was done. Blair and I went for a walk (more on this later) and then I watched Biggest Loser. Those people were jumping off buildings. I can tell you, there is no amount of weight I could lose that would make me want to jump off a building.
There was a teenager incident later that evening…you know how it is, kid asks for permission to do something ridiculous, you say ‘no’, kid freaks out, blah, blah, blah.
I guess I better go figure out day 3.
Sweetie, you don’t have to visit the zoo… it sounds like you have one in your own home. Full of lots of little monkeys!! Good luck! 🙂
