Skinny is in the eye of the beholder

I know you’re wondering what on earth a woman who had a baby a week ago is doing, using the word “skinny” and I probably shouldn’t even write what I’m about to write, because I’m revealing the depths of my vanity, but, well, here goes.

During this last pregnancy, I seriously did (no exaggerations) grow bigger than ever before.  Back when I was pregnant with Miss 2, I ordered some cute new maternity jeans from JCPenney.  (I love them, by the way, because their petite section is good.  Now I never have to spend three hours trying to rethread my sewing machine just to hem pants.  JC Penney’s petite section adds to my quality of life.)  Anyway, long story short, in this pregnancy I couldn’t wear those jeans after about 3 months.  I switched over to some yoga pants instead and wore them every single day.  I wore them so much, I wore out the backside and had to get another pair.

Yesterday when getting dressed, I started to pull out the yoga pants but then I spotted those JC Penney jeans in the bottom of the closet.  Hmmm.  Dare I try them on after only a week?

Yes!  I dare!  And they fit!  (Those jeans improved my quality of life again!)

I remember back with my first pregnancy I was all surprised by how big I still was after I’d had the baby.  But now with number 5, I am wiser and I have learned to take what I can get.  Those maternity pants are my skinny jeans, baby, and I am loving every minute of wearing them.  🙂

Sigh…the small joys we have. I love it. Today, I was just happy that my regular shirts still fit over my maternity jeans at 4 months along. If I can just stay out of maternity shirts for awhile, I won’t get so tired of them! I think…
