Chat about the weekend

I don’t have any kind of theme today, just thought I’d chat with you a bit. How was your weekend? Mine was crazed…I always say that, so I guess I’m always crazed:) I long for the ‘putter-weekend’ I hear so much about. This was us:

Up before 7am and out the door at by 8am. Got gas, and headed to errand running.

Ate breakfast out, and finished up with the bank and Costco. Then we went home, around 1230pm.

The reason for our Saturday frenzy? The nicest kind of reason! I hosted a baby shower for my pregnant niece:) She is my very first niece ever. I was her Aunt the minute I married Blair. She was about 18 months old at my wedding, and now, here she is, married and having her own baby. (I’m trying not to feel old…)

We finished cleaning house, and setting up food and decorations, and guests began to arrive. Did you know, you don’t have to send out paper invitations to this sort of thing anymore?  Unless your friends live in caves, you can make a Facebook Event page and e-vite all your friends, and then they say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ or ‘maybe’, and then the ‘yes’ ones show up. I am happy to report that the shower was not only a fun party, but also well attended. Go Facebook!:)

Here’s one funny story. There is a relative who attended. She is a bit….hmmmm….she is a take charge kind of person. She is not concerned with what others think, and is a fan of saying what she thinks. She is also pregnant, with her 4th. She also, apparently, likes mixed nuts. We had a couple of small bowls out at the shower, and she was very much liking them, sending her oldest child to get them a few times.  As she was leaving, she suddenly made a u-turn, and charged toward the kitchen. My daughter, Jessica, was standing in the kitchen doorway. WAS. She was almost forcefully removed as Relative headed for the bowl of nuts, saying loudly, “I need those nuts!” Jessica may have been heard to mutter under her breath, ‘you ARE nuts!’ I snorted, having just had the exact same thought:)

Ah, how we love our relatives:)

I am looking forward to a nice quiet week of daycare, bathroom re-do, and whatever else falls into my lap.

Have a nice Monday:)
