Maren’s Vision Board

I’m excited to share this! I made a Vision Board!  (it just took me like 5 tries to spell board. weird. I guess the Spelling department doesn’t get up early.)

I know what you’re thinking: What?

A couple of semesters ago, Blair was telling me, as part of one of his classes, he heard a speech by some woman (whose name I would tell you if he could remember it) saying that she strongly recommended making a vision board for success and goals setting.  I liked the idea a lot but sort of put it on a back shelf. I’m a little busy.

Until now. Still busy, but the idea of a Vision Board has moved forward on the shelf.

I’ve been reading some books about life change and motivation (you know how much I love self-help…my book club probably holds their collective breath every time it’s my turn to pick a book) and really getting excited about the blog, and writing, and life, and positive thinking. (It’s all that getting up early, it’s doing something to me. Either that or the water.)  I have to say that since I have been thinking so much about all of that, I have really noticed a difference in how my life is going! I want to tell you every last detail, but first, I’m going to show you the vision board because it’s all artsy and sort of craftsy and I made it and I’m a little impressed with myself.

Now, this is my first one and I had to start somewhere, so, be nice! And then, go make your own! There was glue! And cutting! And tape!

So, these are the ideas, items, and people I’m interested in thinking about, having, and meeting. You so had to know that Matt Lauer would be on here! Having met Donny, and axed Barry, Matt is the only one left.

This was funny: A few members of my family, including Blair, were in the bedroom, previewing this work of art, when one of them asked,

“Who’s the blonde chick?”

Since Ellen’s name is on her picture, I had to assume they did not recognize my female IDOL:

Brene Brown!

This woman is so unbelievably amazing. Her books are about letting go of shame and embracing whole hearted living and authenticity. Really, she helped me find myself during a time of my life when I felt like I had lost everything.

Anyway, I also added words that are meaningful to me.

I included material items I’ve always dreamed of owning. It’s no secret I love an awesome motorhome. We’re remodeling our upstairs soon, so I thought I’d add a few pictures that embrace what I’m going for there.

My dream jobs are to write for income and speak publicly.  I’m working on a book, and well, I think that anything can happen. I mean, who would have thought that one day I’d be sitting here, with my husband going to school, happily running the daycare with him and planning our trip to Hawaii?

Five years ago, I would have laughed my head off at the idea.

Four years ago, I saw chunks of my life disintegrating before my eyes, including my marriage and my finances.

And yet, here we are. Miracles happen. Life can amaze the crap out of you.

Vision Board. Here we go.
