Hillbillying aka the Jack family reunion

We are at the Jack Family reunion. It is my hubby’s mom’s family.  We come down almost every year.  There will be about 80 people attending this year (some years it can be as many as 150) ranging from 3 months to 84 years. If you haven’t had a big family reunion, aunts, uncles, cousins, you are missing the boat. Some of the activities include tubing, fishing, and splashing in the river. Other things you are missing are cooking Cap’n Crunch french toast for 80 people.  You might or might not miss sleeping in a tent (I think I am getting too old for that).

When I first got married, I thought the Jack reunions were huge and overwhelming. I didn’t know anyone.  Dan has tons of cousins that he spent whole summers with as a kid.  I hardly knew my cousins.  I was not sure what to expect or who to talk to.

Now  I know everyone and have been in charge of it at least once.  I have even invented a game the family loves and demands to play.  It is called ‘Do you know Jack’, and it is all family trivia.  It gets very competitive.

The whole reunion is a riot.  My kids love it and now have met so much family.  I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I will try and post some pictures later.

A follow up:  We had river rafting, fishing, visiting, family history and tons of great food!

This year featured also the uncles of the family.  One fun game was in honor of Uncle Ted, everyone got to dress up like a biker.  Here are some of the winners.  The only possible downside to it is I may be in charge next year.
