An out of town hubby and a good book or 10

My hubby is out-of-town and will finally be back tomorrow.  HOORAY!  He has been gone for a week at scout camp.  Thankfully he has a job (and a life) that doesn’t require him to go out-of-town very often.

I find myself quite unmotivated without him around.  I worry less about the house being clean and meals being cooked.  Poor kiddos!  This time two of the boys are out-of-town as well.  And the sweet Miss 16 has been busy working.  I have been busy  trying to keep mr. 8 entertained.

However at night, I have a hard time sleeping without my hubby.  So I have been taking advantage of this week to read.  I read fast, really fast.  I love to read.  I have been reading mysteries this week.  Some mysteries are scary…without the hubby in-house, I have NOT been reading any on these.  Instead I have been having fun reading the corny and funny ones.  Ones that are about dogs and knitting shops.  Caterers and comediennes.  I have probably read 10 books this week, okay maybe more.  I have been to the library a few times to get some new ones.  Thank heavens for books and reading!  They help keep my mind occupied when I cannot sleep and help pass the time.

Now back to cleaning the house, the hubby comes home tomorrow!  And if the house gets clean, I can read another book.

I’m the same way when my husband’s out of town. I miss him a ton, but the break is kind of nice. 🙂 What scary mysteries do you like to read? I’m looking for something scary, tense, but relatively clean.

I love Mary Higgins Clark, but I have read all of hers. I also enjoy Sue Grafton. For more light hearted mysteries I read authors like Joanne Fluke, Jessica Beck,or Laurien Berenson. A good website that I use to find new mystery series is http://www.cozy-mystery.com/. I like her description of cozy mysteries especially that they are more light hearted and don’t usually involve gore or ‘adult’ situations. I also like that most of her recommendations are series books.
