Here is Carrie’s Post, Maren!

Okay, sis, I am back from driving to the first round of dance class and the store. I am home with just enough time to post this, feed the kiddos, and drive off to kindergarten. whew! And every night I wonder why I’m so tired I want to cry or die. ha! It’s partly due to being 8 months pregnant and partly due to plain old life. Which brings me to today’s topic.

It can be hard at times to be a mom of four little girls. Especially girls, who are still so very little and demand and need so much attention and help. I know some days I am terribly grouchy and feel like I’m doing a terrible job. Of course there are also days when I look back and thankfully have no regrets about what was said and done during the day. I find myself constantly trying to remember to be cheerful and be nice. To just enjoy my time while they are little and still want to play and ask a million questions about everything. In that spirit, I just have to share something I really love about my babies.

(Something I can think about while I am driving around in my van with Miss 1 screaming in the back.)

I love it when my tiny little girls start learning how to talk. All of my girls have been very verbal and actually speak quite clearly at an early age. I love this because it’s a peek into the baby mind. What are they thinking? What do they understand? How do they see the world?

My little Miss 1 (due to be Miss 2 next week) is full of funny and endearing little comments.

Whenever she wants me to open or close anything she says “close it the door.” For example, on Easter when she went crazy for Easter eggs and she learned how to unwrap chocolate candies, she came running to me saying, “Mommy I close it the door, myself.” Or when she wanted me to fasten a toy plastic watch on her wrist, “Mommy, close it the door.”

Every man she sees is “my daddy.” (This can actually be a little embarrassing in public settings but still cute.)

I tend to use a lot of terms of endearment with the girls. The other day when I dropped Miss 6 off for kindergarten I said, “Adios cutie,” knowing how much Miss 6 loves the word adios. Miss 1 apparently thought this was hysterical. The whole way home she was yelling out, “Adios sweetie, Adios cutie pie, Adios sweetheart, Adios honey,” and laughing like a tiny maniac in her car seat.

It is also very sweet to hear Miss 1 expressing her likes and dislikes so clearly. Every time we pull into Grandma’s driveway I hear her calling out, “I love it Grandma’s house!”

The best thing she says, the absolute family favorite that will bring laughter to all of us for years to come is when we change her diaper. Then she waves bye bye to the diaper and yells out, “Bye Bye Poop! Good luck!”
