The locust invasion

I sent two boys camping and the house is still full!  Probably because there is no school today.  There are children everywhere, and they are loud.  They are also very inquisitive and hungry!  In fact most of the questions so far today have involved food i.e. Can I have a popsicle, How many popsicles can I have, or Why don’t you have any candy.

They are like locust descending and eating everything in sight.  They leave destruction in their wake, wrappers and dishes.  Discarded toys are scattered through out the downstairs.  There are shoes and jackets, not to mention the socks that appear to be multiplying.  But I know from sad experience none of the aforementioned socks will be around when the parents show up to claim these children.  I will be lucky if the shoes are still here.

My biggest challenge of the day will be to keep them entertained, and just to be clear- not a water gun fight when it is only 50 degrees outside.  I  will survive this day without video games and television.  Instead we (I mean the kids–not me) will draw and play outside.  We  will build fun creatures out of legos, like giraffes and ghosts.  We will devour all of the popsicles in the house, along with any fruit, and every bit of cereal.

I ( and I do mean just me) will hide in my room on my computer.  I will eat grown up food and maybe a Twinkie or two.  And when the blessed relief of parents show up, I will go by myself to a store and buy a treat!
