Not quite done.
Saturday, Bro-in-Law came over and tiled the floor. Sunday, he came over and grouted. The walls are painted, the cabinets are stained and varnished. The new shower curtain is hung on it’s new rod, and matching towels hang on their new double towel rack. Even the curtain is up.
So what, you may ask, is the freaking problem? Well, it’s me. And Blair a little. The previous floor covering was installed to go about six inches up the wall, presumably to decrease the amount of damage in the likely event of a flood. In that same spirit, we decided we would like to have tile go part of the way up the wall to replace the old linoleum. That was Blair.
The Me part is where I want it to be more decorative that just a square glued to the wall. Bro-in-Law was game…didn’t bat an eye….but will need a bit more time to accomplish the task. Besides, after you (well, not ‘you’, but the person you have begged or hired to do the actual work) lay the floor, you (this is actually ‘you’ and everyone else) have to stay off of it for 24 hours, then the grout is squished in, and then you (the ‘everyone’ you) also stay off of for a period of time, which ended last night when we put the toilet back on the floor.
Bro-in-Law said he would be back when he felt like tiling again. I can see that. I mean, it’s a dirty, messy job and so far, the only thing he’s gotten out of it besides the satisfaction of a job well done, are two meals from us and a hug from his mother. I suppose we could have hugged him, but it would have been a first, and he might have got all freaked out and never come back. So, we passed.
So, I showed the bathroom to a daycare mom today, and she was like, Nice! um…what did it look like before? Rats! I always forget about the Before picture! Now, I’m going to be showing this bathroom going: ‘Take my word for it, it was a wreck.”
If you know me, and you’ve actually seen my bathroom, you could come by and tell me how fantastic it looks.
If you know me and have never seen the inside of my bathroom, feel free to say it anyway, knowing that you are going to have to take my word for it about the wreck part.
If you don’t know me, well, you’re going to have to wait for the pictures. I am in the process of checking photo albums to see if there are any of the ‘before’ bathroom, although it’s doubtful. I mean, seriously, who in their right mind snaps a candid shot of someone in the bathroom?
In the meantime, the part of the bathroom which is actually done looks fantastic:)
Congrats!
Forget the bathroom makeover — look at your blog! Super cute 🙂
Where are the after pictures?
