So, as part of an experiment, er, effort, hmmmm, what exactly to call this….
Um,
This year, the board of Maren’s House Childcare has decided to expand its program by offering an adapted preschool curriculum.
Wow. That makes it sound so cool.
Wanna know what we did yesterday? We colored with marker on coffee filters. Then, we sprayed the colored coffee filters with water. After they were dry, we stuffed them full of cotton balls and glued them together. THEN, we glued streamers of varying colors to one side. We called our efforts Jellyfish, and hung them up.
Mom’s and kids and families viewed our creations with interest, and curiosity.
Wow! Cool! Good Job!
What is it?
Well, I’ll tell you what it is.
Officially:
We encouraged small motor skills by using markers with lids and squeezing glue bottles. We discussed colors. We learned science by seeing what happened when we sprayed our coloring with water and watched the colors change and blend. We learned that glue changes when it dries. We learned the satisfaction of a job well done, by displaying our efforts. We also learned about how jellyfish in the ocean move, eat, and live.
Unofficially:
We kept a bunch of hooligans busy by letting them make a big mess and hanging it up in The Copa.
Tomorrow we are presenting free art, which, upon viewing, parents will ask “What is it?” And I will say with a sad voice, “you can’t tell?” and inside I will Laugh, and Laugh, and Laugh…..:)
