Thank God. (Literally)

Yesterday my dear husband stopped by the church building to check it out- you know, make sure it was clean and locked up for the night and all that.  While there he read an interesting thing on one of the chalkboards.  It said something like:

If you woke up tomorrow

with only the things

you thanked God for today,

what would you have?

I admit when he told me that, my brain was racing back to my prayers from the night before, trying to remember what I’d said.  I’m pretty sure I mainly asked for things.  I had probably said something generic like, “thanks for my many blessings.”  But true gratitude?

Definitely worth thinking about.

Tell us what you still want to see when you wake up tomorrow.  What are you grateful for?

I’d heard this a long time ago, and have thought about it ever since. Oddly, I’ve even found myself saying things like, “I’m grateful for whoever replaces to toilet paper in the porta-potties at the park, because this pregnant mama would never make it farther if she had to wait.” I read somewhere else that if you wake with those two words on your lips (“Thank” “You”) that you feel a whole lot better all day long, as you live in a spirit of gratitude.

I love that you’re thankful for the porta-potties Jillian! Now that I’ve heard this saying, I don’t think I’ll ever forget it either. Which is a good thing. 🙂
