I met a woman over the week-end who said the following “I love my kids, but I don’t really like them. I don’t like kids in general.” I was surprised and trying to think how to respond. I was truthful, I said “I do like my own kids, and other peoples too. My ever helpful hubby chimed in with, “She is a teenager magnet, teen-agers love her”.
I started to protest and then realized he was most likely right! The DI kids like me–they come over even when there isn’t DI. My daughters best friend and her boyfriend seem to like me pretty darn well. In fact Miss 17’s bff put herself in my phone as BFF. Mr. 15’s football buddies wave and say hello when they see me, even if Mr. 15 is nowhere in sight. Mr. 14’s bff calls himself my son from from another mother. And anytime I venture into the high school, I am greeted by a minimum of 4 teenagers who know me and talk to me.
That surprised me since I didn’t really like being a teenager. Hmmm… I guess I am a teenager magnet . Who knew?
