I have been thinking and trying to decide which “scary” halloween story to share from my house, so I just decided to make it easy and tell all.
First story. I have been noticing for awhile now that Miss 2 is unusually afraid of the dark. She won’t go anywhere unless the lights are on. I have finally got to the bottom of it.
(warning: this is terrible)
One of her sisters, who will remain nameless, (atleast I hope it was only one of them) has been tossing her into the bathroom, with the lights off and calling it “the dark cave.” Now. Obviously this isn’t totally funny, considering it could be thought of as some kind of sibling abuse. And I have been wondering where I have been when they were doing it to her! But I will say that it is cute when she stands there all naked in the morning and says “turn on the lights, mama, so I don’t have to go in the dark cave.” Then she runs in to the potty chair, reassuring herself the whole way, “this is not a dark cave. the lights are on. I not go potty in a dark cave.”
On to the second story. (And this one is funny. Not terrible. )
Just this week, I took Miss 5 to the doctor. She had to get 4 shots and of course, like all children, she wasn’t really impressed with that. Fast forward to last night. My dear husband got home from work and is sitting in his bedroom. Miss 5 comes up to him, hiding under her blanket and howling like a scary ghost.
“Ooooo, daddy,” she moans. “Do you knoooow whoooo I ammmmm?”
Daddy is so nice, he is playing along like he is scared and asks her who she is.
“I am Dr. Haaaaanks!”
(sorry Dr Hanks. I guess you’re scary now.)
Last scary story and then on to the spoiler. This is a just a brief note actually that should put the fear into any mom with a two year old. I have noticed that Miss 2 has. . . pausing for dramatic effect . . . . . . STOPPED TAKING NAPS! This is seriously the scariest thing I personally have ever encountered. I put her in the bed, she plays wide awake in there until I get her out. (By the way, I do plan to keep putting her in there for awhile. Lest I go insane.)
And now, for the spoiler. It’s not Halloween yet but I’ve got to show a picture of the costume I stayed up working on last night. (and pat myself on the back for it, too). Miss 6 is planning to be a librarian and Miss 5 is going to be her book.
Happy Halloween Everyone 🙂
Oh my goodness! Siblings can be so mean! 🙂 I LOVE the costume. So awesome!
Naquai
Carrie, I couldn’t help but laugh through this whole thing! They were probably throwing Miss 2 into the downstairs bathroom. There are SO many things my kids get away with down there too. Poor little thing! And since I got to see the book in person, I have to say it is amazingly, fantastically awesome! You did a great job! I came home feeling like a total loser because I have absolutely no creative talent whatsoever and here you are doing all that, preschool, clean house, and costumes!
Well, my house isn’t actually clean. Just the parts you were looking at. 🙂 But I will take a bow for the costume- I am super proud of it.
