Today is a snow day for my kids, my hubby and me. Most of our area is shut down…Yay!
I love lazy snow days home with family!
And now for some fun….my kids found out last night that school was cancelled today. Mr. 14 came to us to verify. Big mistake! It is like he doesn’t even know me!
Here is the quick history between me and my kiddos. We once pulled them out of school early on April Fool’s Day to take them to see a movie. When they asked where they were going, I told them they were going to the doctor to get new immunizations because the school had lost theirs. They totally believed us until we pulled into the movie theater parking lot.
I once convinced my Mr. 13 that his uncle has secretly gotten married and just hadn’t told anyone yet. And there was the time I convinced them I used to have a brother named Jared. Another time, we told the kids to pack their suitcases because we taking them to go see their uncle who was out of the country on vacation. The kids still remember that April Foo’ls joke.
To give credit where credit is due, Maren is probably partly responsible. Oh yes! Maren has also had her share of practical jokes. She and I once convinced Carrie that her belly button would unravel if she washed it. Our mom was not thrilled.
My kids love that story, yet are still gullible enough to fall for my dumb jokes!
Why Mr. 14 came to me to double-check on the snow day is surprising to say the least. Yet he did! So I called the elementary school first, on speaker phone. The message said school was cancelled. Then we called the middle school, the automated message actually said the school was closed for Winter break since December 15, but said nothing about the next day. We called the high school, which also said school was closed tomorrow.
Yep, you guessed it, I totally told Mr 13 that his school, the middle school, was not closed even though the rest all were. He was a little skeptical but my hubby and Mr. 14 backed me up, saying, ‘the message didn’t say your school was closed’. He was bummed for a few minutes before Miss 17, (who does not think I am that funny) went online and proved to him that the entire district was indeed closed!
They are all still in bed this morning, snug and warm. I am resisting the urge to wake them up and tell them that the school district changed their minds.
Snow is falling. Life is good!
