Reality vs Maren

Once again, Maren (me) has hit the wall of Reality.

Saying the kids are going to be out of school, and kids actually being out of school are two very different things.

Very.

These people can really eat! And only one of them needs help fixing food. He’s 6, and I’m pretty sure I told you he can already make his own jelly sandwich,  He only needs me for hot food and laundry. He’s not allowed to touch the washer, especially after a particularly dicey incident involving him, Tim, and a LOT of water and soap.

These people can talk! They talk about life, love, music, food, weather, fashion, friends, and even politics.  Even Nick, the 6 yr old, who declined to comment for the first 5 years of his life has decided we’re all ok, and he can, in fact, converse with us. Tim’s our only hold-out….

These people can spend! OH MY HECK! I went to Kohl’s the other day to get some dress pants for Dan.

**side story: Dan sat down on the pew at church a few weeks ago and stretched out preparing for his weekly church nap. I happened to glance over at him and noticed that his pants were in full flood prep mode (high water! Too short!) and his suit coat was up to his elbows! AHHH! He grew!!!! AGAIN!!!! I just bought that freaking thing!

deep breath

So, I’m at Kohl’s. I’d taken Rachel so I could spring for a Birthday outfit (she is 16, I don’t want to talk about it…or rather SHE doesn’t want me to talk about it, because I like to share fun stories about her which she, interestingly, does not think are funny, like the N-quiz. N is the boy she likes, and there’s a quiz involved. She was saying how she ‘does not talk about N all that much’ and we were saying that she ‘always talks about N’. I said, ‘Let’s just see…Then, I asked her two sisters random questions about both N and J (her best friend and partner in crime). I only asked questions to which I knew the answers.

The results showed an amazing knowledge of N’s life and a disturbing lack of info on the BFF.

hmmm….

So, we were at Kohl’s.

(I promise I will get to the point someday:)

I ended up taking the other two girls also. Needless to say, I did not ONLY buy Dan’s dress pants, and I owe Kohl’s a half decent amount of money. Or a whole decent amount…depending on your tax bracket…

The point is, that while I’m pretty sure I’m having fun, I’m probably going to lose a lot of weight (there’s no food left for me) and have to get a second job to pay for the fun.

Hopefully, after I am on the news this Friday, I will become rich and famous and be able to buy food and pay off my Kohl’s account.:)

There’s some Reality, baby!:)
