A Hole has been dug

Despite our insanely busy life, we did manage to have time to decide to convert our garage into a family room. So far, we have progressed as far as a hole in the backyard.

This hole is for the shed. The shed is for about 40 % of the crap, er, useful items like yard work paraphernalia, and power tools, that currently reside in the garage.

Our plan is to build the shed, empty the garage, fill the shed, convert the garage, including the building of some closets/storage, then put about 20% of the crap, er, Christmas decorations, camping equipment, canning supplies, and Alex’s stuff, into the closets.

The other 40% is most likely, probably… ok, it IS garbage, or stuff we meant to give back, give away, or use someday but never will because we don’t remember it was in there, and we already bought another one.

There hasn’t been an actual vehicle in there for years.

What there is over here, is a lot of people. People who belong to me, people who don’t belong to me, people I have never laid eyes on before. Short people, tall people, teenaged people, related people.

These people NEVER want to go in the garage. They always want to come in, sit down, and possibly have something to eat. They want money, rides, and permission.  They want to talk, laugh, and spend time.

An extra large room for daycare, family and fun would be very ideal for all of this.

With this in mind, we got our butts in gear and dug a hole:)

**A funny story**

The other day, Tim was very cranky and I determined that a walk around the neighborhood would be just The Thing. (for him, not me) Jessica and another child took him away. They returned a short while later, saying that Tim didn’t want to walk, he didn’t like the wind, and they were done. He was NOT more cheerful. I decided to take matters into my own hands, and Tim and I headed off again at a brisk pace.

Later, one the girls related an overheard conversation between Melinda and Jessica:

M: (looking out the window at Tim and I) Wow, I didn’t know Tim could walk that fast.

J: I don’t think he’s so much ‘walking’ as he is just flapping behind Mom.

Ahem:)
