Today makes 3 weeks since Blair left for Africa. I get emails from him almost every day…he’s doing fine and even manages to read my blog now and then.
Here in my town, in my house, we are doing fine. So far I’ve fixed my own swamp cooler, put oil in a vehicle, put gas in more than one vehicle and have been interviewing contractors.
That’s not to say I don’t miss my guy. He’s very useful: tall, strong, and smart. He can reach stuff, open things, and move furniture.
Oh yeah…And I like him. A lot.:)
Talking to my teenage girls and young boys is not quite the same. I’ve been taking the kids on dates, I can tell you that while it’s been very fun, it’s just not quite the same as going out with the man you love.
Another thing that is not the same is the decision making process. When Blair is here, it goes a lot like this:
Me: What do u think honey?
Blair: I think…(fill this in with whatever he thinks)
Then, we jointly decide, or compromise, taking each other’s feelings and preferences into account. Often we take turns getting our way…generally trying to keep everyone happy.
This is how it works right now:
Me: hmmm….what do I feel like doing?
Me: ( again) I think I should do whatever I want!
Me: ( yes, again) Yahoo!:)
That sort of rocks:)
On the other hand…I’m missing the man I married 23 years ago this Sunday. Even having the whole bed to yourself doesn’t quite make up for that….
Only 3 weeks to go!
P.S. As a side note…my son who is serving a mission will be home in 11 weeks! Yahoo!:)
