Ok, so sue me. Mother’s Day is on my mind. I don’t know why….it’s only a holiday that celebrates something I did 7 times, and there’s a chance of presents…and I think I’ve been pretty clear on how I feel about treats and presents:)
ALSO! I get to talk to my missionary. My nearly 20 year old baby who’s been gone for 7 months and 12 days…or 223 days and 19 hours…but I digress:) The point is, that I get to talk to him on Mother’s Day. AND not just talk…SKYPE. Ha! I’m feeling pretty excited about this, even though I know I’ll cry and embarrass myself:) So, not only do I get to HEAR my baby, but I get to SEE my baby. This is how you can tell if they are eating. Also, you can tell if it’s necessary to go OVER there and get that boy. I mean, tell him I love him and what a great job he’s doing and how proud we are of him. Ahem.
So, Mother’s Day. I’m going to get a food processor and Coco Puffs. It’s the only day of the year I eat them. It’s the only food I’m willing to let them cook. One year they (the kids) made ‘eggs’. They were a-w-f-u-l. But you’re the mom. You are obligated to eat the offering. So, I’m looking at these eggs, and I’m thinking, there’s an enormous amount of pepper in these eggs. That’s what I was thinking, but not what I was tasting. After I choked down the breakfast, brought to me, I might add, in bed with a glass of EXTREMELY watery OJ and VERY crispy (burnt almost beyond recognition?) bacon, I took my dishes to the kitchen where I discovered the egg pan with a full half inch thick layer of burnt-to-hell eggs on the bottom. Ah. Not *pepper*, charcoal.
Moving on.
This year, I’m excited again, because we’ve come to an understanding about Coco Puffs and what kind of present Mommy would like, aka, the Food Processor.
And now. A possibly but not likely brief Shout Out to Mothers I Admire:
1. My Mother. She was there, she is always there. I know if I called her today and said, “I need you”, she would drop her life like a hot rock to get to me. That’s worth something, people.
2. My Sisters, Lynn and Carrie. Both of these women have unique situations and I am consistently impressed, both with their resolve to do the best job ever and how good they look doing it.
3. My Sis-in Laws. Another group of women rocking Mom-hood:) ( Hi Kirstine! Hi Kori! Hi, Virginia! Hi Joelle! Hi, DeAnn, and Robin, and Denise! Hi, Melinda!)
4. Moms who have 6 kids and one of them is named Michael. I love ya babe!
5. Moms who got through the young kid years and are making the rest of their life look good. I call these the Light At the End of the Tunnel Moms. They are awesome and I love seeing them. It’s nice to know there’s life after This.
6. My Mother In Law. Love that woman. She rocked the stay at home mom life, and is at this time, the proud gma of her first great grand. She looks good, she’s Queen of Clean, and she survived breast cancer. How much freaking cooler can you get?:)
7. The rest of you. If you love your kids, and are truly trying to be and do your best, then that makes you great!:)
Happy M-Day Ladies!:)
Aw thanks! I love ya too 🙂
I hope that you have an AWESOME Mother’s Day filled with cute little love notes from your kids, a great dinner cooked by someone who knows how to cook, and a box of Twinkies. 🙂
