Maren vs The Cold

On Friday evening, my eye was getting red. Now, to the average person this could mean that you are have something in your eye, you are having an allergic reaction, or you are in the beginning stages of pink eye. I was in Denial which basically meant that my professional opinion was that there was nothing wrong with my eye.

Saturday morning, my eye was glued shut, and not from real glue, that would be weird. When I finally managed to open my eye, it was Very Very Red. Time to return to Reality and admit there is *something* wrong with my eye. I was going with allergies. I skipped wearing a contact in the red eye, and went on my way. I would have worn my glasses, but they are a) a very old prescription and b) broken (I did not chew off my nose pieces….one of the lenses fell out after Timothy stepped on them after he found them un-tasty on my dresser). I also admitted that I might need eye drops and put some in.

Saturday night. The first eye is still somewhat red and the second eye is also somewhat red.  Eye drops, phase 2.

Sunday morning. First eye is not very red at all, but the second eye is still somewhat red.  Eye drops.  I did not go to choir or church, but opted for a nap.  When I woke up, both eyes looked great!  I’m thinking, I’ve SO got this, no pink eye for me! That’s because I DO NOT GET pink eye!  Yay!

Monday was great:) No pink eyes, no nothing. Just good health.

Tuesday, Nick woke up with a red eye. Uh oh….Since it’s one of the kids, and not me, I had no trouble diagnosing pink eye and gave that kid some drops.

Tuesday night, my nose is a bit runny, but since I don’t get colds…pretty much the same way I don’t get pink eye….I’m fine.

Wednesday morning. I might have a cold.  Two of my teen daughters definitely have head colds. Shoot! I sent Blair to the store for DayQuil (Thanks, Lynn, altho you were SO RIGHT about the taste) and hand sanitizer.

I will NOT have this cold. NOT happening, NOT today. Sick is for sissies! Pink eye is for pansies!

I will defend to the last! The last what? I’m not sure, but I have my pepsi, DayQuil, kleenex, and a can-do attitude.

I’ll let you know how it goes:)

May the force be with me!

Maren, my dear. Can positive thinking and denial beat the cold? Maybe. If anyone can do it you can.
