Let’s go to The Mall

One of the things the hubby and I did while we were away was Christmas shopping.  We went to the Outlet malls.  No big deal–we go there fairly often.  Then we decided to go to a ‘real’ indoor mall.  Wow, it has been years since I have been to The Mall.

I used to go to The Mall a lot.  My friends and I hung out there, looked for cute guys and wandered around for hours.  We rode the bus there when we couldn’t get a ride. But there is no mall in my town so we don’t go very often.  Some things are very different and some are just the same.

The same                                                        The different

Cinnabon                                                           cell phone stores
Orange Julius                                                   Windows/Apple stores
Claire’s                                                               Body piercing
The Gap                                                            Lego Store
Hickory Farms                                                 Massage  chairs
Shoe stores                                                       No book stores 🙁
Shoulder pads–they are back                       No music stores
Leg warmers  & vests
tuxedo shirts & leggings
Spencer’s

The Mall is still noisy and crowded, but you have fun anyway.  There are way more security officers than I remember as a teenager.  I also noticed most of the people at the mall were my age.  (not very many teenagers!)  In fact, it made me wonder if the same people from the 80’s are still the ones going to The Mall and dragging their kids.  Maybe that’s why leg warmers and shoulder pads are coming back. . .

Anyway, in honor of The Mall and the 80’s, here is an awesome video:

I’m at the mall a lot, since there’s one less than a mile away and I have 3 teen daughters. I have noticed that not a lot has changed…but I somehow still enjoy it anyway:)
