Yesterday was a glorious day at our house.
Kayak Day.
What? You don’t recognize that holiday? That must be because your husband isn’t a waterfowl/duck hunting/play in the woods & rivers addict.
Oh yes, yesterday was the day the long awaited Kayak was delivered.
It was also the day I finally found time to schedule another haircut. I used to just walk into any old place and roll the dice on what kind of haircut I received, until my dear mom-in-law shared her Fabulous Haircut Person with me. (and she is fabulous, too) My haircut was scheduled for the evening and I’d already had to cancel once. Needless to say, I was feeling nervous when Fabulous Haircut Person called to tell me she had a sudden family commitment. We needed to reschedule just a tad. Could I come earlier?
My mind was racing along through the day, trying to figure out what time could possibly work when Fabulous Hair Cut Person made a suggestion. You can bring your kids with you. My mind instantly conjured up a picture of me, trying to hold still for a haircut while wrestling Tiny Baby on my lap (she screams if you put her down), trying to cajole Miss 2 into not destroying, mutilating, or spitting on everything around her while screaming, and trying to convince Miss’s 5-8 that they could get along and be nice and not be bored to disruption while I got a haircut. I could bring them I guess, I replied cautiously. We set a time and made our plans.
In the meantime, little to my knowledge, My Dear Husband, was also trying to disrupt my evening haircut appointment. He called to ask what time I had scheduled it because suddenly he had meetings that must be attended and could not be changed. When I told him the plan I had cooked up for taking the girls with me, he responded with words that made him even more Dear to me (if that is possible). You don’t have to take the kids. I’ll be home at 2:00. I took the afternoon off because my kayak is going to be delivered.
(wahoo)
I made a quick call back to Fabulous Haircut Person and rescheduled again. Then I made my getaway and was able to enjoy a peaceful, non-child-wrestling haircut (and my hair is looking mighty nice, if I do say so myself).
My Dear Husband’s kayak arrived while I was gone. It was unscathed and ready for action. The little girls couldn’t wait to hop in and go for a ride.
Happy Kayak Day Everyone!
What a good looking kayak it is. Good for fishing, paddling, and all sorts of recreation.
