Fat, Happy Baby vs Dinner

Last night I made a delicious dinner of tortellini and lemon clam sauce.  All the girls like it and generally, it is a big hit.

Fat, Happy, Walking Baby has been doing a fabulous job eating, now that we are providing her with a plate and a little fork.

But last night, despite the fork, and the  delicious little cheese filled tortellinis, Fat, Happy didn’t want anything to do with dinner.

That’s when I resorted to other methods.

“Mmm, look at Mommy eating this yummy noodle.”

She just stared at me with a cold stare.

“Mmm, look at Daddy eating his yummy noodle.”  (daddy obligingly smiled, held up a noodle and took a bite.)

Fat, Happy can’t resist Daddy, so she started to smile, but still refused a bite.

All the other girls began to enjoy this show we were performing for Fat, Happy so they all started showing off their forks, smiling, and taking big bites.

It wasn’t long until Fat, Happy grabbed her fork, speared a noodle, gave a smile and shoved a bite into her mouth!

It was a lesson in Peer Pressure!  It was a success!!

Or so I thought, until she spit that noodle right back onto her plate.  I found the rest of the tortellini I thought she’d eaten stuck to her backside when I picked her up out of her chair after dinner.

Let’s hope she rejects Peer Pressure this effectively when she’s a teenager!
