As many of you already know, we (read we as I for the most throughout) have been busy this week putting the finishing touches on the SURPRISE party for my mother-in-law. We ordered balloons, purple, her favorite color. We borrowed tables and chairs. We ordered party platters. We cleaned the house to be ready for the out of town guests to spend the night. (The kids did help with the cleaning. 🙂 ) We changed all the bedding and washed all the towels. We fielded card and flower deliveries. We have pored over hundreds of old pictures of family. We created collages from the pictures. We went shopping for new birthday clothes. We pondered why rsvping has gone out of style. We answered questions and phone calls about the party…often dashing out of earshot.
Needless to say, now that the party day is here we are very excited and nervous. Will she buy the cover story? Does she suspect something? Did she wonder why the sweet sister at church asked her how the big birthday bash was? Did she think it was strange that we went birthday shopping so early? Tonight we will know for sure and we will party!
