DI is over! The team did fantastic. The kids were good sports and cheered on others besides themselves. We made new friends. Some of the kids got a little too addicted to pin trading. All in all, we had a great time in Tennessee and were happy to come home.
Summer is here now…officially for us, school is over. My goal for the summer is to keep these kiddos busy! It has only been a week and so far we have been to two museums and one wildlife refuge. We have been to the library and to a park. Mr. 13 is teaching Mr. 8 and Mr. 7 (daycare) how to play frisbee golf. Mr. 15’s football is in full swing with two daily practices.
We are also taking advantage of the free summer lunch (and breakfast) program.
If you aren’t familiar with this program, you should check it out. http://www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/summer/
Some of the benefits are less dishes, and a lower grocery bill. Kids are happy and full! And every school comes with a playground. Our little town has three sites this summer. You should find a site close to you.
Here are some of the other things on my summer agenda: the zoo, many more museums (lots of which are free), weekly library trips, fishing, family reunions, bowling, miniature golf, swimming, cub and boy scout camps, geocaching, choral camp, football camp, roller skating, girls camp, baseball games, crafts, summer homework, summer journals, garage sales, town festivals, and whatever else I can dream up.We have even requested a tour of the state capitol and are trying to reserve a tour of the US Mint.
If you have a hard time catching up with us this summer…now you know why!
Our list is admittedly long–Miss 17 has voiced some skepticism about whether or not I will actually be able to keep them this busy!
Sounds like a challenge to me. . . . . I say bring it on!
Just this week I was thinking I’d better get some type of plan for the summer in place before it passes me by!
