Been a long day

So, at 6:30am, Blair got up and ran to the grocery store for yet another thing we forgot. Last night, we ran out of graham crackers for today’s activity and we forgot to get the extra box needed. Because we were expecting about 15 kids to make gingerbread (graham cracker) houses today, I was busy last night gluing (Royal Icing) the houses together for today. We needed a few more…

At 7am, he returned home with the crackers and a Pepsi (don’t judge til you’ve spent a day with 15 kids, Royal Icing and candy). I jumped up, showered and began putting houses together again.

By 8am, I had finished the houses, woken up my kids and started breakfast. Blair made eggs for a few kids including one early daycare kid.

Blair ran to sell plasma, I folded laundry, older girls picked up, straighted kitchen sorted candy and dressed smallest boys.

I started the icing and discovered it was not Powdered Sugar in my pantry, but coconut.  A frantic text to Blair got fired off, and he promised to bring home more.

At about 10am, cousins arrived, and we got started.

Later, more kids arrived.

Things got sticky.

We took pictures and video, then launched a massive cleanup effort whereupon we served hot dogs to the mob.

They ate 5 packages of hot dogs, a dozen oranges, 4 packages of buns, and 1/2 gallon of milk.

Cousins left.

Kids are now downstairs bouncing off the walls.

I’m on my 2nd 52 oz pepsi.

Things are now sticky, and ketchup-y.

That is all.

Good for you! You just made many little children very, very happy! (& I hope that you are rewarding yourself by locking yourself in the bathroom with a bubble bath, candles and chocolate. )
