…And a Happy New Year!

Actually, I’ve given up on the whole ‘Happy New Year’ thing. I have a benchmark year…several of them starting in 2003 and ending around 2006. Those were some seriously sucky years. Beyond sucky….terrifyingly scary.  Then Nick was born. That year was ok, maybe could even upgrade that year to ‘fine’, but then, 2000….I think it was 8….sucked pretty bad. I’ve blocked a lot of that year out…

2010 wasn’t the worst year ever, and 2011 wasn’t too bad either, and that’s saying something since Blair didn’t even have a job in the private sector this entire year. He did a heck of a lot around the house, and with the kids and the daycare. He’s a go-er that’s for sure.

So, my thinking is, if this next year doesn’t suck too badly, I’m good with that. It actually would take a lot to ruin a year for me these days. I mean, after you’ve had job losses, and brain damage, financial setbacks, friends moving halfway across the planet, and ruination of relationships, seriously, I’m feeling pretty tough. If you throw in the economy, political crap-ola, and other people’s problems, I’m starting to feel happy to still be mostly sane and still standing.

Sheesh!

What a whiner I am…if I was the kind of person who made resolutions, I might address this defect:)

Too bad.

Don’t make resolutions! It’s a waste of time!

Um,

Have a nice day….

Love it! I’m not a resolution setter either….just sets me up for disappointment and many things in life can already be disappointing, so why add to the pot? Thank you for all that you do. I don’t think I could have made it through this year without you. Thank you! Thank you!

What would we do without Peppi and Chocolate, those two will get you thru just about anything. That, and hearing your favorite ABBA song periodically. Happy New Year!!!!

It’s true! ‘ does your mother know’ & ‘dancing queen’ saw me thru some tough days:) yay abba! Go Pepsi!

  3. Melody says:

“May you have a not-too-sucky year in 2012″…..I just can’t see it on a card.

“If the world doesn’t end and the zombie apocalypse start, 2012 might be okay after all.”

    or “Here’s hoping for a super-great-can’t-get-any-better-than-that! year”

    I’ll pick door number 3. 😉

      I like them all:)

I like that first one. But then again, my husband and I love a song with the lyrics, “I think I love you ’cause you don’t suck.”

    • Nedra says:

Actually that was pretty much what my boss said to me before the holiday break: “I hope you your Christmas doesn’t suck too much.” (Such a profound statement on my life in general lately.) Fortunately the holidays didn’t suck too much…I spent most of them in bed with bronchitis…but there are folks who had much worse Christmases. Here’s hoping everyone has a not-so-sucky New Year!!!! *heart* *heart*
