A dad’s perspective

So Juliet Catherine is here (what a beautiful name).   Carrie would like you to know Juliet is the name Mom and Dad loved and Catherine is the family name.  Mom and baby are doing great!  Baby is nursing well and mom has already been out of bed. This makes 29 grandkids for the Sahmsisters parents, and 12 on her daddy’s side!

In honor of her birth we have our first guest post.  The baby’s daddy has offered his touching perspective.

There are few things better than being a Dad.  One of those is being a Dad of four girls.  Another is being a Dad of FIVE girls.  Carrie’s delivery went well.  All of our children are born by cesarean which means that some things are a bit different.  One is that Dad gets to hold baby before mom does.  The doctor is still working on putting mom back together and Dad gets to hold the baby, wash her up, clip the cord, and do all sorts of great stuff.  Then Dad gets to walk baby out of the OR and for the first twenty minutes of life, Dad is all Baby knows.  Dad gets to see that first blink of the eyes, the first cooes, and have baby hold onto his finger. At that point mom is brought in to recovery and baby can get on doing what baby’s do, (nursing, sleeping, and letting people dress them).   But for a Dad, having a cesarean can be a special treat.   (I’m sure mom will have something to say about this but it’s the truth).   I can say this with number five.  I was really nervous with one through three but mom does a great job and we have had good doctors.

Her name is so regal! I bet she will be a princess or at least think so being No. 5. Her sisters will think she is better than any doll. Congratulations!

    I love her name!

I haven’t ever thought about birth from the Dad’s perspective…I didn’t realize how self-centered I am when it comes to birth. Your post is going to be a springboard to a conversation with my children’s daddy tonight. 🙂

I love the name! I’m glad Dad enjoyed the delivery of his new bundle of joy too! I think his perspective is awesome. Carrie should consider herself very blessed 🙂
