Remember that cute little post about the snow? And that nice little snowman we built?
Well, right after we built that snowman it started to rain. It rained and rained and rained and rained some more. All 6-8 inches of snow melted immediately. Our snowman looked like this:
Isn’t that just sad?
And you know what else was sad? All 6 to 8 inches of melted snow, and all of that rain, came right into Miss 8’s room and flooded it. We spent the night shop vac’ing and pulling up carpet and setting up fans.

We also tried to fix the broken-ish gutter that was responsible for leaking all that snow and rain into our house. We think we need a new downspout but obviously we couldn’t get that done at 10 at night during a rainstorm. So we rigged up this atrocity right in our front yard:

Yes, yes, we really did use our winter sled as some kind of illogical homemade drainage system. (notice there’s no snow in this picture- it all melted.)
Now it has finally stopped raining despite weather predictions to the contrary, but the sled is still there. It will probably sit there until we get around to really fixing the gutters, which could actually be awhile.
Maybe it can double as some kind of weird white trash DIY birdbath when spring comes….
